January, 2012

Another new year, another new challenge for the publishing team at Rudy McBacon Enterprises. Once again, our application for a table in the Small Press Pavilion at the San Diego Comic-Con has been turned down. Although we’re on a waiting list with our fingers, toes and eyes crossed, the San Diego Con seems to have outgrown our own humble endeavors. Unfortunately, this also means that our ninth issue has been put on the back burner while other projects take precedence. In the meantime, we’ve started a new feature on the website, a sketchbook where we’ll be posting new comics and artwork.

August, 2011

Hello again, McBacon fans! Missing out on the last comic-con, we’ve had a chance to work on other artwork, and recently one of Rudy McBacon’s artists had a few paintings hanging at the Pacific Green Pharms Medical Marijuana Collective in beautiful Pacific Beach, San Diego.

Although we’re mostly beer and whiskey guys, the staff at P.G.P. are really friendly and knowledgeable, I’d suggest them to anybody in search of quality medicinal marijuana. Each painting is for sale, they are named (from left to right) ”Park Bench”, “The Regular”, “The Typer” and “Sticks and Stones”.

Update 1/28/12: Due to a crackdown by big brother, the collective has been forced to shut it’s doors, so now these beautiful paintings are hanging in my crummy apartment, where far fewer stoners can appreciate them.

July, 2011

Howdy McBacon fans! After several complaints and years of procrastination, we’ve finally started selling our comics online again. Stacey set up a Rudy McBacon store at Etsy to help get our comics out to the weirdos on the internet. We’re starting off by just selling our latest three issues. If all goes well, we’ll start to sell some of the older issues, the popular McBacon t-shirts, and maybe some original artwork. Finally, once we stop dragging ass and get the new issue printed, you’ll find it there!

June, 2011

Its been a few years since the website was updated, with grand tales of chili cook-offs, guerrilla artwork and the fart-a-thon. We’re hoping to bring you more news soon, along with more convention photos and the usual crappy drawings.

The big news right now is that McBacon will be missing out on the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International. After five years of celebrating comics with our friends at the Con, somehow we weren’t able to secure a table for this year’s event. We’re hoping for a return to the San Diego show next year, and looking into the possibility of exhibiting at other conventions.

The good news is that the ninth issue of The Legend of Rudy McBacon is currently in production. In the meantime, you can find some of our past issues on the shelves at our favorite local comic book shop, Galactic Comics in Ocean Beach.

We’ve also still got our Cafe Press store going, if you’re in the market for a tasteless throw pillow, and we’re on MySpace, if anyone still does the MySpace thing.

As always, we welcome your e-mails:
